  This is my second visit in five years. I had grilled shrimp with no seasonings. The food is very good. The reason I am only giving Dirty Al's South Padre Island 4 stars is because of the Manager on Duty, who seems to be unaware of how serious food allergy issues can be. I understand this place serves mostly fried items, but when I asked about whether or not the blackening season has wheat, I was told 'it is just seasonings'. I explained there could be wheat used as a binder. He then went to check on the ingredients, but felt like he didn't want to. He seemed surprised that there was gluten. I later asked about the fries which were battered. He said, 'well if the other has it, the fries will too.' Actually, a lot of companies are switching to potato starch to keep the seasonings on the fries. I didn't feel like hassling with it because I could tell he didn't want to check, so I didn't eat fries. Hopefully upper management will see this and teach lower management to either check with the Kitchen Manager, or just go look at the boxes themselves. I will definitely think twice about going there again. And, since I just moved down here, could have been often!

  Food and service was excellent. We had a party of 11 and they did a fantastic job ensuring everyone was served at the same time

  Dirty Al's has good food. But the service may be bad at times, I had gone last evening and they forgot to bring back my father's drink.
